What is Ultrasound?

Ultrasound is a safe, non-invasive imaging technique that uses high frequency sound waves to produce an image of an organ, tissue, or blood flow. Unlike CT and x-ray ultrasound uses no radiation making it very safe.

What types of ultrasounds are performed at Spencer Imaging Center?

Abdomen –Complete Abdomen, Gallbladder, Kidneys, Aorta
OB/Gyn – Pelvic Non-OB, 1st trimester, 2nd/3rd Trimester, Biophysical Profile, OB follow ups, Peek-a-boo
Vascular – Carotid, Upper and Lower extremity venous, ABI’s
Small Parts – Thyroid, Scrotum, Soft tissue mass

Is there anything I need to do to prepare for my scan?

There are certain preparations for exams and they will be reviewed with you at the time of scheduling.

How long does it take for an ultrasound?

Typically, ultrasounds take anywhere from 30-60 minutes.

How will I get my results?

Our team of radiologists will read your study and get the results to the doctor that ordered your exam. You should hear from your doctors office within a few days of your appointment.
